[ep 67] Justin became a follower of Jesus in 1999 as a college student. After an inauspicious start as an engineering major, he made the completely illogical jump to psychology, and graduated with zero job offers. In the years that followed, he met, dated, and married Courtney (his wife of 15 years).

While they lived in Lexington, Kentucky, he took various jobs for several years while simultaneously volunteering at a growing church, Quest. He was invited on staff there in 2007 as Assistant Pastor and later became the Lead Pastor in 2014 amidst a leadership crisis.
