We have all had jobs that didn’t suit us. For most of us, those jobs have the best stories. No one wants to hear about the really normal job you had for a while. They want to hear about the crazy one.
That job, however, might have another function. In her episode, Michelle McKinney, uses the analogy of making a cake. Baking a cake takes many ingredients and as you shop the ingredient list might seem crazy. Ingredients that might not totally make sense when viewed one by one. However, when all those ingredients come together it is magic. Something wonderful has been created. Something delicious.
Those jobs that you might have seen as just a stepping stone could have been God giving you some ingredients. There are all sorts of skills that can be developed at random jobs that seem like just a paycheck.
So if you find yourself in that position right now, be encouraged. God is preparing you for something that you can’t even imagine right now. It might take longer, maybe even a lot longer than you think it should. But God never wastes a thing in our lives.
