Advent and our story of waiting on God

[No 14] The season of Advent is really special to us for a lot of reasons. We thought it would be a great time to sit down and talk through our story and the role that this season has played in our lives. We tackle three aspects of Advent in this episode.

First, we talk about the church calendar in general and the place that this Christmas season plays in the calendar as a whole. We then talk about our adoption story and a specific season of waiting in community that profoundly changed how we view this season. This is a joy filled time, but I am not always sure about the hope to which we look. We can sometimes compromise hope by taking it lightly. We are called into the brokeness that needed a savior and a God that saves. Finally, we talk about practical ways your can observe this season. I think most of us think that this will finally be the year we follow through. That may be true of this year but it might not and we need to have grace with ourselves. We give some really easy barrier of entry suggestions that should help kickstart your season.

It is always our hope that your time at the magic table inspires and challenges you. We love to talk about stories and think they are powerful ways to convey truth. We would love to hear your thoughts on Advent in your life. If you have practices that have worked in the past please let us know.
