Zawadi Morrrow returns to A Theology of Hustle for a wide-ranging conversation about identity, worship, and calling. Born in the Congo and raised across Kenya, Europe, and the United States, Zawadi has a perspective on identity formation that’s hard to find — especially as a transracial adoptee with Irish and German missionary parents. He shares the formative lesson his dad gave him in kindergarten about who gets to define who you are, and why he’s now passing that same truth to his own two kids.

We also dig into Zawadi’s career as a worship leader — from a piano teacher’s Dalmatian to a full-ride scholarship, from church plants to five-service Sundays with King’s Kaleidoscope at Mars Hill. He shares what he’s learned about keeping worship tools in their proper place: they serve the congregation’s communion with God, not the other way around.

Finally, Zawadi introduces No More Orphans — a new music project where every song and every merch sale goes directly to support families navigating adoption and foster care. He’s releasing a song a month in 2025, writing, arranging, producing, and recording everything himself.

In this episode:

  • Zawadi’s upbringing across four continents and what it taught him about identity
  • Why parents — not culture — are called to give children their identity
  • His unexpected path to worship ministry (Liberty University seminary, Kings Kaleidoscope, Mars Hill)
  • How to lead worship without becoming dependent on production
  • The problem with comparing your church’s worship to Elevation or Hillsong
  • The origin story of No More Orphans and what it means to his daughter
