[ep 127] Ryan Burge is an assistant professor of political science and the graduate coordinator at Eastern Illinois University. He teaches in a variety of areas, including American institutions, political behavior, and research methods. His research focuses largely on the intersection between religiosity and political behavior, especially in the American context. He’s also an American Baptist pastor and the author of, “The Nones: Where They Came From, Who They Are, and Where They Are Going” (Fortress).

Ryan Burge has such a love for social science and graphs. We talk about Ryan’s road to becoming a political scientist alongside his journey to becoming a pastor. He has an awesome story and you see his love of both of these vocations come out in this episode. We talk about this large group of the religiously unaffiliated called the nones. Ryan sets the record straight on who this group of people is and how the church can go about reaching out to them. There is a lot of great science in this episode that Ryan makes very understandable. You are going to learn a whole lot from this one.
